Cherry Blossoms at Robin Hood Farm

May 21, 2024 - William and Paule had the honor of presenting the history of cherry blossoms at Dany's Robin Hood Farm to Dr. Mari Nakahara, a senior member of the Library of Congress and a cherry blossoms specialist. During the presentation, Dr. Nakahara shared her knowledge on Japanese Cherry Blossoms and the effort to receive 200 more trees from Japan, which were gifted by Prime Minister Kishida President Biden last month.

Robin Hood farm in Havre de Grace was established before the US was a country. The Maryland Historical Society documents that the farm was established about 1780.

Havre de Grace was named by General Lafayette when he arrived to serve General Washington, he said the port of Havre de Grace and said “C’est Le Havre.” That is how our town got its name!

Washington, Lafayette and General Rochambeau met in Havre de Grace to plot against the British and began the march to Yorktown – the decisive battle that game America victory over the British.

Robin Hood farm in Havre de Grace is on the route to Yorktown. (Old Post Road). Washington, Lafayette and Rochembeau met near the farm to plan tactics against the British.

In 1799, the year Washington died, Havre de Grace was considered to become the capitol of the United States. A detailed map and survey of the area was drawn, but Havre de Grace lost to Washington D.C. by one vote. The White House might have been in Havre de Grace.

This is why we would like to plant Cherry Blossoms at the Farm and begin tradition of Cherry Blossoms in America’s second capital! We would like to link the future of America, France and Japan at the farm. The farm will be the site of the US-Japan Energy Institute with beautiful cherry blossoms growing on the 35 acre farm. The site will hold the official records of US-Japan efforts to restore Fukushima requested officially by the US Department of Energy Historian.

Three flags fly over Robin Hood Farm – America, France and Japan. It is sacred ground of history – past, present and the future. .
